Task: Investigating their local area
From: Once a Term (see dates below), 8 weeks long
Duration: Two 45-minute classroom sessions per week*
*Price: £500 per school, for up to one year group*
*TOP SECRET:* WebPlay have created Jet Set & Go.com, a fictional online travel agency to engage children in their local area. Teachers and students go into the role of "secret agents", employed by Sinclair St. John, the megalomaniac CEO of the agency. Children work undercover to investigate their local surroundings and to produce a multi-media guidebook, sharing their findings with their partner class.
Midway through the project they attend a "secret meeting", where they watch a performance by the top agents from Jet Set&Go! and take part in a drama workshop with their partner class.
As part of Sinclair St. John's master plan to recruit as many agents as possible, we will be running WebPlay Local once a term in 2009-10. The dates will be:
Autumn Term: 28th September to 27th November
Spring Term: 25th January to 26th March
Summer Term: 10th May to 9th July
And, because we know the economy is putting pressure on school budgets, we have come up with the ingenious plan of offering the project for £500 per school.
